Technical Documentation Engineer – Rosendahl Nextrom, Vantaa
Do you want to take ownership of the technical documentation for the machinery that manufactures the world’s optical fiber—and build the function from the ground up?
We are looking for a Technical Documentation Engineer to join our engineering team in Vantaa, Finland. This is a new role: until now, technical writing has been outsourced, and we now want an in-house owner and expert for our documentation.
The role and main responsibilities
In this role, you will own, create, develop and maintain the technical documentation for our machines, equipment and production lines throughout their lifecycle, including operating, installation and maintenance instructions. You will also lead our move from current documents to structured documentation system. You will report to the Engineering Manager, Mechanical and Documentation.
Your responsibilities include:
- Own, create and maintain technical documentation, turning engineering information into clear, accurate and user-friendly instructions, including illustrations.
- Lead the implementation of structured and modular documentation in Finland, migrating our existing documentation step by step into the new system.
- Harmonise structures, templates, terminology and ways of working with the documentation team in Austria, and act as the local key user for documentation tools and methods.
- Ensure documentation is accurate, consistent and up to date, and meets regulations, standards and customer requirements – such as the new EU Machinery Regulation
- Make sure documentation is available for deliveries, working closely with mechanical, electrical, software and process engineering, product managers, project management and customer documentation.
- Develop documentation processes, tools and ways of working, and drive continuous improvement.
What we are looking for
- Technical background. You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field. You understand how machines work and can turn complex machinery, drawings and specifications into clear, consistent documentation.
- Experience in technical documentation. You have at least 3 years of experience in technical documentation, technical writing, engineering or a similar technical role, preferably in machine building or industrial equipment. A design engineering background combined with genuine motivation for documentation is also welcome.
- A proactive mindset. You are interested in taking responsibility for our documentation and developing it further.
- Organisation and attention to detail. You coordinate and prioritise your work effectively in a multi-project environment, and you care about quality and precision.
- Strong collaboration skills. You enjoy working with many stakeholders and work effectively in an international, multidisciplinary environment.
- Excellent language skills. You communicate fluently in both Finnish and English, spoken and written.
- A plus: experience with documentation tools, content management systems, structured authoring or modular documentation.
What we offer
- A new role you can shape yourself – you are the owner and expert of our technical documentation, not just the executor
- The chance to build structured documentation with a modern system and support from an experienced team in Austria
- A wide range of machines covering entire production processes – with the assembly hall right next door
- A technically exceptional environment where many fields of engineering come together
- Autonomy and trust – flexible working hours and remote work two days per week
- An international, multicultural workplace and international customers
- Extensive occupational healthcare, a lunch benefit at our Vantaa site and a wellbeing benefit for sports and culture
