Product Engineer – Rosendahl Nextrom, Vantaa

Do you want to work at the intersection of product management and engineering – with the technology that makes the world's optical fiber? We are looking for a Product Engineer to join our fiber optics business unit in Vantaa.

The role and main responsibilities

As Product Engineer you are the link between Product Management and engineering. You report to the Technical Director and support our five Product Managers across the product areas. Your main responsibilities are built around product development, R&D support, customer interactions, and operational development and continuous improvement:

• Drive development and improvement work through meetings, follow-up and reporting.
• Keep product documentation complete and up to date and coordinate consistency between sales and engineering structures.
• Turn market needs into concrete product specifications and roadmaps with the Product Manager – and communicate them to engineering.
• Support the R&D manager, R&D projects and R&D centers – specifications, technical details, delivery scope, risk mitigation and problem solving.
• Support the Product Manager in technical discussions and negotiations with customers and prepare quotations for standard offers.
• Contribute to product-area improvements and corrective actions based on lessons learned.

What we are looking for

• Engineering experience. A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant technical field and at least five years of experience in an engineering role in machinery or equipment industry with project deliveries.
• Technical expertise. Understanding of a broad range of technologies and ability to quickly understand issues and find solutions
• A problem-solver attitude. A can-do self-starter who sees a problem and goes to find the solution.
• Independent, structured way of working. Ability to prioritize and manage a varied workload across many different disciplines. Organized documentation and strong Excel/data skills; Power BI, database or PDM/PLM experience is a plus.
• Collaboration and communication. Ability to work effectively across teams and to communicate clearly and professionally, both internally and with external stakeholders.
• Curiosity and flexibility. A flexible working style, a curious personality and a passion to learn new processes and technologies.
• Language skills. Fluent written and verbal skills in English and Finnish.
• Willingness to travel. Readiness for international travel 0-25% of working time.

You do not need a fiber optics background – the technology is learned on the job.
